Today the students began class by sharing their poems about a memory from earlier on in childhood. Next we talked about stories/legends and the students brainstormed legends that they have heard about or know. We then read "The Highway Man" by Alfred Noyes and discussed rhyme schemes and use of repetition. Finally the students began to compose their own legend poem (at least ten lines) utilizing the rhyme scheme AA, BB, C.
- legend poem (at least 10 lines -- 2 stanzas of 5) with rhyme scheme AABBC due Monday 3/4
- three typed poems of your own due in class on Monday 3/4
- your signed February IR calendar due in class on Monday 3/4
