Today we discussed the mentor text and the elements of feminine voice that made the male narrator not as believable as he should've been. Next, we made a list of common elements found in both female and male written voice. We talked about how this list is not to be used as a checklist while writing and how it doesn't apply to all female and male writers.
Next, students began writing their stories from the perspective of the opposite gender. We ended class by sharing a couple sentences from our work. Students also wrote short descriptive passages of a picture. Some of these will be used for tomorrow's lesson.
