7th Grade--8/30

Today we began class by discussing online submission procedure through schoology.com. Please message me on Schoology this weekend if you have any difficulty making this work. Next, we did a mini lesson about finding titles in our writing rather than having to create them out of thin air. I modeled this strategy using a student example, and then students had a few minutes to practice it with their own work, reading through their writing and circling words or word phrases that would make strong titles. Students shared their new titles, and then they had 20-25 minutes to work on their writing. We ended class by sharing 1-3 sentences from the day's writing.

Today we began class by taking the procedures quiz. After that, we did a mini lesson on developing setting and character and further communicating that setting and character through your writing. Students had time to write and we shared strong sentences to finish class.

Next, I introduced students to the inspiration library and we used the library to begin crafting our first piece of fiction. We concluded class by sharing sentences from the day's writing.
