8th Grade--11/7

Today we began class by learning the WM word "durable". After that, students took the comprehension quiz on chapters 25-the end of To Kill a Mockingbird. After the quiz, we had a discussion on this section of the reading, and we addressed the following discussion questions:

 Animals are frequently used as metaphors throughout this novel. Look at the book and find a couple of examples of animals used as symbols/metaphors. What do they symbolize?

 Now  that you have read the entire novel, how do you think Scout transitions from a child to an adult? What events have the largest effect on her transformation?

 Now that you have read the entire novel, how do you think Jem transitions from a child to an adult? What events have the largest effect on his transformation?
